Just watched the film of the Library. What a travesty that LCC have allowed this to happen. so much for protecting heritage eh? Seems Next, Gap, Boss and all the other better paid enterprises have a greater lean with the council these days. Ah well, heritage dissapears, but the fine corporate money talks eh? shocking!!!!!! Who took the hpoto pf the mosaic owl? would love a copy of that for mi desktop.. PLEASE?????

The owl. Fantastic. I'll dig out your e mail add & send it to you Si. Have you read Kims article above? Were not really sure what to do about this old place now!

Cheers, that owl is Leeds personified. Stunning piece of work it is. Aye, I did read the article and it's great that other sites have made mention of it! What really needs to be done is the council lobbied and as much publicity generated as you can. YP, YEP, Look North. surely there is a developer that can restore this fantastic Gem, while retaining the original features that survive.

A developer has it Simon. It's had one application to turn it into flats turned down already, It's grade 2 listed so you can't change alter or modify anything about it. It's very limited in what they can do with it. It has a huge banner outside saying quality offices on the way. Thats been there 5 years now!! Thre owls on it's way!

Got the owl, many thanks. OK, so my rant aimed at LCC, is unfounded, but surely they can do something? Such a shame!!

Finally got round to watching your film Phill - nice work as ever!!Has anyone else noticed that the owl is above a lamp? - presumably to light the way and dispel ignorance- how poignant.
there are 10 types of people in the world. Those that understand ternary, those that don't and those that think this a joke about the binary system.

Can someone explain this to me. If it's Grade two listed then no-one can change it into anything even remotely different, like flats or offices, even if they keep the character of the building? But, it can be left to rot because some kind of rules make that o.k. Personally I would prefer a sympathetic conversion to almost any kind of use, rather than the slow demise that is seeming to be more inevitable as time goes on.
