Events in the financial markets had a profound and lasting effect on developers and developments like this, but meanwhile, the internet has revolutionised shopping. At the same time, shoppers increasingly expect convenient access and preferably free parking.

There may well be a phase II development which will see the, originally planned, disappearance of the northern "bookend" on Eastgate and expansion across Lady Lane but at present most of the land/property is presumably sitting in the developer's "landbank" courtesy of the initial compulsory purchases.

These are 3 photos that I took at the site on February 14 2017. Apart from some appearance tidying up there seems though to have been little major change since some of the earlier photos in this thread.
