The old bank at the junction of Harrogate Road and Shadwell Lane.

Post by Leodian »

Passing by on a bus on Thursday (June 9 2016) I noticed that the HSBC bank at the junction of Harrogate Road and Shadwell Lane was closed and stated to be for sale. I wonder what will happen to this fine example of a building that is recorded on a 1933 map that I've seen (but not on a 1921 map)? Does anyone knows of any history of the building and is it a listed building (I would hope it is)? I took the photo during September 9 2015 when I was there to take a photo of an old style external safe deposit box (just visible by the window on the left in the photo). The photo of the box (and others) is in this thread http://secretleeds.com/viewtopic.php?f=27&t=5824 I started on August 20 2015.
