Anybody know why the city colours are Blue and Amber or Blue and Yellow.

Blue and gold. From the colours 'or' and 'azure' on the city's coat of arms.But don't ask me how they chose the colours for the arms! http://www.leedscivictrust.org.uk/CoatofArms.htm

Surely " blue and old gold " as the Leeds United strip was described in the 1950s .
