Hi All, I have recently started work at what I believe to be the old Wollesley Hotel on Wellington st. I'm interested to know if anyone can tell me some history or stories about the place, also does anyone know when it was converted into it's present state?Cheers everyone, love the site it's a great place to learn about our wonderful city.

Think it was a (faded glory) part of the Mount Charlotte Investments Empire who seemed to be centred on the Calls.Think I attended a course there late 80's?early 90's.http://www.caterersearch.com/Companies/ ... otels.html

Just a quickie for a start - it was, if I remember correctly, the "Great Northern Hotel". It changed, again if I remember correctly, to "The Wellesley" sometime in the late 60's/early 70's. I went to a function there in the very early 80's and it was "The Wellesley" then. I think I'm right in what I say "jimmy87" but I'm open to wiser knowledge.
Daft I call it - What's for tea Ma?

Is this the end of the story ...or the beginning of a legend?

Some fantastic pictures indeed there, it would be interesting to know how much, if any, of those fixtures and fittings etc still exsist within the building - over to you Jimmy87
