I could have sworn I helped my brother carry a few cases of wine out of the ex market building a decade or so ago.Surely somebody has a card for there and can ask to take a few pictures? Sorry Barfly but Winerites moved out of those premises about three years ago, the warehouse has stood empty ever since.Liits - if its possible can you help me place where exactly that excellent photo was taken, it's before my time in Leeds and I'd like to work out roughly where it is - cheers.

I'll try....The photo of the buses is taken from Smithfield Street looking in the direction of Gelderd Road. The busses are both heading uphill from Geldered Road [along "Sinfield Street" towards Whitehall Road. This crop from the now ruined Old Maps website shows the 1968 - 71 OS map with the pub highlighted in red. The blue lines roughly encompas the direction of the photo so I'm guessing that the shop in the background is the end of the back-to-backs making up Danube Terrace and Danube View. This is the 1906 - 08 map showing much the same area over the current Google Earth shots [2009]."Sinfield Street" or whatever its called, disapeared when Whitehall Road was juggled about.

Cheers guys so, as near as damn, the pub would be just about where the roundabout is now and Sinfield Street would have been what is now the last 50 yards or so of Whitehall Rd before it joins the roundabout, linking Geldard Rd and Whitehall Rd together when Whitehall Rd went straight on towards yje railway bridge.

I came across this on Leodis, where Gelderd Rd., meets Whitehall Rd.the reason being I painted the signs on Tainton's mill, about 1960, loadsa girls worked there, and I remember a small fronted pub, from the pics I've seen of the Cattle Market, it seems to be a bigger pub than the one I remember, is it poss there could have been another pub there abouts?http://www.leodis.org/display.aspx?reso ...
