Does anyone know what the structure is on Woodhouse Ridge that people call the "50p" (although it has too many sides for a 50p)?

Can anyone help?

It's the remains of the old bandstand. Woodhouse Ridge used to be fairly impressive formal gardens, not the semi-wilderness it is today. There is a very delapidated old storage room under the bandstand.

I think the allotments below it are still referred to as the bandstand gardens. I've never heard it called the 50p before!

It was quite a structure with cast iron pillars supporting an ornate roof. There are a couple of pictures of it on the leodis site. Someone has added a comment to one of the pictures saying that they used to call it the thre' penny bit. So at least it has moved on to decimal coinage now!
