I was reminded by another thread that I had commented on the most recent Majestic rebuild. It is 14 months since Wellington Street was reduced to the one lane exiting City Square. My post highlighting that says the closure is until April 2019 which is 2 months away. I'd say April 2020 is unlikely.. All that appears to have been achieved is removal of the remaining roof timbers, clearing of debris within the building and erection of, what I assume are temporary, concrete based steel supports which will presumably aid the installation of the roof.

I think it's probably eighteen months because that's the maximum for a temporary traffic regulation order, but that can be extended six months at a time if it turns out to be necessary.

The renovation work at the Majestic building seems to have been going on for ages! These are 2 photos I have taken. The first was on June 14 2018 and the second on November 8 2018. The site at least made a good location for adverts!
